Custom Gift Books
- A spouse, for the milestone birthday or the anniversary with a number on it
- Adult children, for a parent's retirement or eightieth
- The couple, for the proposal, the honeymoon, or the first anniversary, which is paper
- A friend group, for the trip, the summit, the season
- Anyone with eleven thousand photographs on a phone and one person who deserves a book
The Milestone Book
Most gifts for a fiftieth are used up by the fifty-first.
A book is not. Fifty years of one person, gathered from siblings and old friends and the bottom drawer, designed properly and bound in leather with their name on the cover, on the table where guests pick it up.
It is the gift people cry at, in the good way, and the one that is still there twenty years later.
Give us the photographs as they are. Choosing them is our job, not yours.
Anniversaries, Proposals, and the Paper Year
The traditional first anniversary gift is paper. Nobody said it had to be a card.
A book of the first year, or of the whole story so far, is paper done properly. For the twenty-fifth and the fiftieth it becomes the book the children make for the parents, with the wedding photographs nobody has seen since the wedding.
For the proposal, a book of how you got here, handed over before the question. Hard to say no to.
The Phone Problem
Eleven thousand photographs on a phone is not a collection. It is a backlog.
Send them as they are: the album from the trip, the folder from the hard drive, the shoebox your nephew scanned. Our design team chooses, sequences and lays out the book, and you approve proofs before anything is bound.
You do not need to know what layflat means. You need to know who the book is for.
One more thing. If a photographer made your photographs, order the book through them. They know our books, they will design it better than either of us, and custom gift commissions are for the photographs nobody was paid to take.
How it works
- The conversation. Tell us who the book is for, the occasion, and the date it needs to arrive.
- The design. Send the photographs as they are and our design team chooses and lays out the book; or deliver print-ready files. Either path ends in proofs you approve.
- The craft. Bound by hand in our European workshop: leathers, linens, papers, and a name or a date debossed on the cover.
- The delivery. Worldwide with FedEx and DHL. A single copy is produced in 12 business days after proof approval, so a book for a December birthday starts in October.

FAQ
What is a custom gift book? A coffee table book made from your own photographs for one person and one occasion: a milestone birthday, an anniversary, a retirement, a proposal. Designed by our team, bound by hand in Italian leather or Dutch linen, and made as a single copy.
How far ahead should I order? Six to eight weeks before the date is comfortable. Design takes a week or two depending on how quickly you gather the photographs and approve proofs, production of a single copy is 12 business days, and shipping is a few days more. Rush production is available when the date is closer.
What do I need to send? Photographs in whatever state they are in: phone albums, hard drive folders, scanned prints. Tell us the story in a few lines and our design team does the choosing.
Can I order just one copy? Yes. One copy is the most common gift order. Every KONPOLI book is made one at a time, so there is no minimum, and you can reorder later from the same files.
I hired a photographer. Should I order through them? Yes. If a photographer made the photographs, order the book through them; they know our books and will design it better than either of us. Custom gift commissions are for the photographs nobody was paid to take.
Can I put a message on the cover? Yes. Blind or foil debossing in gold, silver, or rose gold carries a name, a date, or a line only two people understand.
How does pricing work? Every gift book is quoted individually, based on format, materials and page count. The conversation starts with the occasion.
Do you ship gifts internationally? Yes. We bind in Europe and ship worldwide from Miami with FedEx and DHL, and we can ship directly to the person the book is for.
